Doula Immersion Checklist
How to Prepare
Doula Immersion Preparation Handbook: Before you begin the certification process, take time to identify and address any fears or apprehensions that you or your female linage may have about childbirth. Go through the worksheet and bring this into your training weekend. We will go through it together.
Required Reading Materials: Purchase the list of required reading materials. Start reading through these books, dog earring them, highlighting them, journaling about what they bring up inside of you, good or bad, deepening your knowledge. Set time aside for you, to ensure you have ample time to absorb this wisdom.
Recommended Reading Materials: There are so many incredible books about birth, and while I can’t require them all, here are some really incredible books I recommend checking out on your journey to becoming a birth worker. Quick tip… Spotify just realized their own Audible if you are a premium member. That means you can listen to some of these books for free
Required Watching: These films are part of the tidal wave of birth returning back into the hands of women and their families. They are the guidestones that you should be recommending to your doula clients, so be sure to watch them.
What Should I Bring?
What should I bring?
We will spend the majority of our time in the beautiful estate we picked out for our gathering in Escondido, California. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and cozy. There will be a lot of sitting, but we will incorporate movement in throughout the day. In November, Escondido enjoys mild weather with daytime temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s°F and cooler mornings and evenings in the low 50s°F. It's mostly dry, with a slight chance of rain. The days are clear and pleasant, perfect for outdoor activities.
Don’t forget these essentials:
Comfy yoga type clothing
Cozy socks
Your swimsuit
A water bottle and snacks throughout the day.
Anything else that will make you comfy.
We will provide a notebook and pen for you to journal and take notes during the course.
Nourishment
We are so excited to announce that Crave Prep will be graciously sponsoring our events Lunch & Dinners with nutrient dense meals to nourish our bodies with organic, seed oil free, grass fed/grass finished meals throughout the immersion. They have also given each participant an 10% local discount code for food delivery. Use theremembering10
Part of this journey involves reaching out within our vibrant community, seeing what is available to your clients, observing and reflecting. This involves observing a Childbirth class, a Breastfeeding class and then being evaluated by the birthing family on your first 5 births. Click the image below to download these evaluation forms.
Meet Kelsey
She will be your personal concierge for logistics and will be here to support you before, during & after this course.
When are final payments due?
You must be paid in full by 10 days prior to the course, which will be 10/22/24. If you are making payments, please make sure that you are committed in an arrangement with Lindsey prior to the start of the course.
Will I have time to explore Escondido?
Since this course is so intensive, we recommend booked an extra day before or after if you wish to explore the city.
What’s the cancellation policy?
There is a non-refundable deposit. Because of the nature of the on-site lodging, sadly we can not give a refund if canceled prior to 14 days before the immersion. For more info… please see our terms and conditions.
